Module 3: Learner support and progress evaluation
With the emphasis on practising communication in a foreign language during valuable face-to-face trainer/learner time, pressures of work and time necessarily mean that learning the nuts and bolts of language has to occur outside the training room. What does this mean for the role of the language trainer? How can trainers still support the learner at a distance? How can autonomous learning successfully be included in an overall course concept?
In Module 3, language trainers learn how to:
- assess the appropriacy of applying elearning tools and blended learning concepts for different learners and groups
- integrate e-learning into the language learning environment
- understand how e-learning tools work and how elearning content can be effectively deployed
- develop their own material with simple authoring tools
- make use of synchronous technologies (telephone tutoring, virtual classroom) and know how to put them into practice
- apply asynchronous technologies (email, learning management platforms, discussion forum)
- integrate blended learning concepts into their course design, including scenarios
- understand their roles as distance learning tutors or telecoach
- monitor and evaluate progress via a learning management system
motivate their learners and support them in becoming autonomous learners
