Module 2: Role-based training – the Scenario Technique
Trainers will learn how to develop and practise with their learners complete communication processes based on the business processes in which they are involved. Thus, the emphasis during joint trainer/learner time is on practising relevant communication skills in a foreign language.
Trainers learn how to give feedback in a professional and structured manner appropriate for business managers. At the same time they will learn how to use the Scenario Technique to assess progress.
In Module 2, language trainers learn how to:
- understand the advantages of using scenarios for effective communication skills development and language learning
- develop scenarios which fit in with the job and learning requirements of learners and implement these in face-to-face-sessions
- use scenarios and learn the pitfalls when initiating and maintaining communicative interaction in their training sessions
- plan and integrate scenarios within their course plans (see Module 1)
employ the scenario technique as a means of task-oriented testing or to assess the learning progress of their groups
